Can I replace Lyric myself?
Yes, self-replacement is an optional procedure allowing you to replace Lyric devices independently for your own reassurance.***

What activities cannot be done with Lyric?
Lyric must not be worn while diving underwater or skydiving. Pressure changes from these activities may cause discomfort and/or feedback if Lyric moves in the ear canal. If these activities are done accidentally while wearing Lyric, a Certified Lyric Fitter must examine the ear canal.
Can i swim with Lyric?
Lyric is not waterproof. Therefore, underwater swimming and diving are not recommended. However, Lyric can be worn in the shower or during water activities in which the head is not fully submerged under water. Further protection measures for Lyric hearing aids can be taken, such as using over-the-counter or custom swim molds. Check the length of the swim molds to ensure that they do not touch the device when worn.
What does Lyric feel like?
The exterior of Lyric is made of a soft material specifically designed to contour to the ear canal. This soft exterior helps to make Lyric comfortable to wear. After an initial adjustment period (anywhere between 7 and 14 days), most Lyric users no longer feel Lyric in their ear.
Can Lyric be worn on a plane?
Yes. It is safe to fly while wearing Lyric as long as the cabin is pressurized.
Will Lyric set off a metal detector?
No. Lyric’s metal components are too small to set off a metal detector or cause any problems through security checks or scans (e.g. at the airport).
What type of hearing loss does Lyric address?
Lyric is designed to fit customers with a mild to moderately severe hearing loss. The hearing loss may be sensorineural, conductive or mixed as long as there are no other contraindications. Can i wear earphones and headsets with Lyric?
Headsets, insert earphones, and earplugs can be used if they do not touch the Lyric hearing aid.
The Authorized Lyric Partner will check if the chosen headsets work in combination with Lyric.
Can the wearer remove the Lyric hearing aid?
It is recommended to have the hearing aid removed by a Lyric trained hearing care professional. If necessary, the wearer can remove Lyric with the provided removal tool.
Is Lyric Safe?
Lyric is an FDA-cleared hearing aid and has been extensively studied in hundreds of clinical research clients since 2001. In more than 15 years of clinical monitoring, there have been no reports of serious complications. Lyric was commercially launched in 2007 and has been safely worn by hundreds of thousands of clients.
How long does each Lyric hearing aid last?
Lyric can be worn for months at a time. However, individual replacement needs will vary as device battery life is subject to individual ear conditions, level of hearing loss and environmental noise level.
Will an MRI, X-ray, or CT scan damage Lyric or place the ear at risk?
Lyric must be removed before an MRI. Unlike an MRI, an X-ray or CT scan will not damage or dislodge the hearing aid because a magnet is not used. However, you should inform the physician and/or technician about the Lyric hearing aid. If an X-ray or CT scan of the ear or head is needed, the hearing aid may need to be removed. Let your physician know that you are wearing Lyric if you are having surgery or a medical procedure of any kind.
How long has Lyric been available?
Lyric was launched in May 2011 in Australia. However, Lyric was launched commercially in January 2007 in the United States. Prior to commercialization, Lyric was safely used by hundreds of clinical research customers beginning in 2001. Lyric is also available in the following countries: UK, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Switzerland, France, and Germany.
Is Lyric safe to wear during contact sports?
As far as contact sports, we do not recommend nor do we discourage the use of Lyric during contact sports.
